Overview

When a college student goes missing, the police have one lead: the word of her ex, Mathew. Beauty Of The Abandoned follows the investigation through his account, and it never lets you settle on whether he's telling the truth.

Dominic Barrow directed from a script by Beau McKinney. Over five months I shot the film, cut it, and wrote the original score, so the look, the pacing, and the music all came from one place. We leaned on hard practical color, low-key interrogation lighting, and an abandoned building that ends up feeling like a character of its own.

The film premiered in spring 2024 through Eagle Productions, Georgia Southern's student film organization, and won six awards: Best Picture, Best Lead Actor, Best Lead Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Cinematography.
